A young wannabe musician finds himself out of his depth when he joins an avant-garde pop band led by an eccentric musical genius who hides himself inside a large, fake head. Michael Fassbender gives an extraordinary performance as the mysterious, enigmatic Frank, who never removes his mask. Maggie Gyllenhall co-stars as Frank’s musical sidekick; she plays a theremin Although this film is fictional it is loosely inspired by the life of outsider musician Frank Sidebottom.
