One of the country’s preeminent and prolific serious writers, Joyce Carol Oates is the author of more than 100 books, including them, (winner of the National Book Award and yes, spelled in all lower case) and Blonde (which looks at America through the life of Marilyn Monroe).  In this candid and revealing documentary, she provides insight into her life, creative process, and the events that have shaped her writings. Laura Dern who starred in Smooth Talk, based on a Joyce Carol Oates short story, reads from her work.

Directed by veteran Swedish filmmaker and critic Stig Björkman | 94 minutes | presented in part by Morgenstern’s Bookstore.
